Children hear about Puppy Mills and Rescue, Puppy Dogs and Love.

Tulsa, OK. May 23^rd 2009.

Some Tulsa children are hearing about rescuing dogs from puppy mills and the transforming power of God’s love.   It is the story of Winston, a Maltese terrier, and how he was rescued from a puppy mill.  Winston, or Winston Wigglesworth Smartipants Graham, to give him his full name, has been visiting some schools and churches in the area with his ‘Mom and Dad’, Sheila and Max Graham and his doggie companion, a mixed breed terrier named Cuddly George

Originally from England, Max and Sheila Graham are now living in Tulsa after spending some years as missionaries in Japan and Poland.  They adopted Winston from the Humane Society of Tulsa where Sheila helped as a volunteer.  The terrible conditions in the puppy mill from which he was rescued, the care he was given in the shelter and the final happy outcome of being adopted into a loving family and given a new life, became the inspiration for an illustrated booklet, ‘Winston’s Tail’.

 ‘Written and illustrated by Sheila, ‘Winston’s Tail’ is a small 18 page pocket sized booklet which is proving extremely popular.   Over 500 have been given away so far and even previous first lady, Laura Bush, has sent her appreciation along with a signed photo from Miss Beazley and Barney, the White house pets. 

After the children are introduced to Winston and Cuddly George, Sheila reads Winston’s story from a version in rhyme format.  The children immediately identify with his plight and are thrilled and happy at the outcome.  Winston, who loves to be stroked and petted, shares their enthusiasm.  At the end each child is given a ‘Winston’s Tail’ to take home and encouraged to visit Winston at his website.  (http://www.winstonstail.com.)
