Vegas came into rescue with her son Doc Holiday and daughter Presley when her owners fell on hard times and weren’t able to keep them. It is obvious she was well cared for - she lived inside the home with her family and their young children. She does well with other dogs but is not fond of kitties. She is a sweet and laid back lady!

Doc and Presley have found their forever homes and now Vegas is waiting for hers. Is that home yours?

Vegas is being fostered in Ft. Worth TX.

I am full of energy. I lived most of my short life outside in a yard with 2 other dogs. We were all surrendered to a shelter in Texas when GPMR rescued me. I have been potty trained and I am working on not jumping with the command OFF. I am also learning to sit, stay, leave it and great stuff like that. Ohhhhh and I love to play play play.
I would make a great doggie day care dog or a dog park dog cause I am full of energy and I love to play. GPMR will not adopt me out to a home with little kiddos cause I would run circles round them and knock ‘em over but I love to play with the older ones that I can run the bases with.
Do you have kiddos I can play with?
Please fill out an adoption application and don’t forget to list Franklin AKA: Frankie……..I am ready for you~

Comments / Information about this animal:Meet Cabo. He is a 2 year old brindle Mastiff. He had quite an interesting journey on the way to GPMR! His owner is in the military and had to go overseas and Cabo could not come, so GPMR took him in. When Cabo was getting out of the car at the volunteer’s home, he got very scared and backed out of his collar and ran into the woods. He then decided that he would hang around the neighborhood and live in the woods for about a week or so. Many people went to find him but he was very confused and didn’t know where he was so he kept hiding in the woods. We were very relieved when we caught him!

Cabo has done great in foster care. He bonded with his foster family and dogs very quickly, but he is still shy in new situations. He is very much a homebody and would prefer to stay at home rather than going ‘out on the town’. He enjoys days of playing with his foster doggie siblings and lounging on the couch. He has a lot of love to give and would be your contstant companion. As you can see from his pictures he has a lot of personality! Please consider Cabo for home today!

Cabo is being fostered in Mustang, OK.

Comments / Information about this animal:My name is Albert but you can call me Al….call me Al…! I was rescued from a local shelter in TX where I came in as a stray and no one came to claim me. I don’t know why because I am a great dog! I am about 3 1/2 years old. I have a bad upper respiratory infection which I am getting medicine for so I can get all better. I like to play with other dogs and I am a very sweet boy. They tell me I have one big noggin - that must mean I am very smart!

My foster mom says I am a TMM - Typical Mellow Mastiff. I am being fostered with 2 labs and I am content to chew on my toy while they run circles around me. You’ll have to watch out for my tail though, I am a happy boy and when I am a-waggin’ I might accidentally whack your leg with it!

Comments / Information about this animal:Welsie is a 5 year old brindle Mastiff. Her owners have had her since she was a puppy but due to recent changes with their jobs they are needing to find her a new home. She is a wonderfully sweet girl, however she has not been around other dogs and as a result she is very afraid of them. GPMR would like to take her into our rescue program, but we do not have any foster homes without other dogs. She would also be great in a home with older kids. We would love to be able to find Welsie a foster home where she can be the only dog. Is that home yours?
Comments / Information about this animal:Can you believe my original owners had me listed on Craig’s List as free to a good home?
What Nerve! Some nice folks took them up on that offer just to make sure I did not wind up in a bad situation. They named me Roy cuz I am a good ol’ boy!
They were so nice to me. They fed me and took me to the vet but we had one problem…….We lived every close to a busy highway and I liked to run through the electric fencing. They were so frightened I was going to get hit by a car they asked the nice people of GPMR to find me a forever home where I will be safe.
My foster mom renamed me Teddy because I remind her of a big teddy bear!
I love playing with big dogs and big kids! I am living with cats here, I leave them alone unless they run then I like to chase but I am just playing. My foster mom says they will teach me kitty manners, whatever that is! I am still a bit to clumsy for young children to play with so I can’t go into a home with young children although I love everyone both big & small.
I like it here at GPMR. I like the fact that I am no longer listed as free to a good home.
I am Teddy who needs a safe home and fenced yard to play in. Do you have a safe home for me?

Teddy is being fostered in Wichita Falls, TX.

Comments / Information about this animal:Abbey is a 4 year old fawn Mastiff. Her owners are no longer able to keep her because they are away at work and she has begun to show separation anxiety from being left home alone. She is a wonderfully sweet girl and would do best with a family where someone is home a lot of the time so she doesn’t get lonely. She has lived with other dogs before but recently was attacked by a friends dog. GPMR would like to take her into our rescue program, but we do not have any foster homes to accommodate her needs. We would love to be able to find Abbey a foster home where she she is not home alone all day, and also can be the only dog, or maybe with just one other dog that won’t pick on her. Is that home yours? If so please contact us at info@greatplainsmastiffrescue.org - thank you!

Abbey is currently in Ponca City, OK.

Comments / Information about this animal:Hello, I am Niles and I am a Domestic Shorthair Cat. My mom thinks I might have some Siamese in me. A am a sweet gentleman that can really put on the charm! My favorite activities are laying around in the sun, playing fetch and sleeping uder your book as you read. I love to be cuddled and petted. I would really enjoy being a part of your family. I like children, even the young babies, and I am ok with dogs and other cats. My family wants me to find a new home that has time to spend with me, as I am getting very bored here. I would be a perfect pet for a boy or girl to learn responsibility with. Adoption fee $50.00

Note: Niles and Meesha currently live together. They can be adopted together or seperatly. They enjoy each other’s company but both would also love to be the center of attention. If they are adopted together, thier litterbox (a nice, covered Booda litterbox), litter and food come with them.

Comments / Information about this animal:Hello! My name is Meesha and my mom says that I have my Sassy Pants on all the time! I am a little girl with a big attitude. I have no problems speaking my mind when I am hungry or want some attention. My most favorite time is when Mom is on the computer and I get to sit in her lap. Sometimes I even run to the office, then meow next to the computer chair because I want her to sit for a while! My mom thinks I would enjoy another home since my family is so busy, I don’t get alot of attention. I get along with children and other cats - I also tolerate dogs. I like to play, but I like to snuggle more. Does your lap have room for me?

Comments / Information about this animal:This is Sophie. She came to Great Plains Mastiff Rescue by way of a shelter in MO when she was 8 weeks old. She was rescued with two of her littermates and all 3 pups found homes. Sophie is a Mastiff/Pyrenees mix and although they are 2 XL breed dogs she is full grown at 75 pounds. Her former family brought her to the vet and she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 9 months of age - they could not bear the expense of her treatment so they sent her back to GPMR.

Sophie is a wonderfully sweet girl and her foster family thinks she is great. GPMR’s vet said that Sophie does not need surgery for her hips. If she exercises regularly and eats a good diet, the vet said her future owners can manage her condition with medication and supplements.

Sophie is also attending training sessions with her foster mom to help her be a better doggie sibling. She doesn’t like to share her toys with other dogs so we are working with her on that. The trainer and vet feel that she would do well in a home either as an only dog or with just one other dog that is on the quiet side so that Sophie doesn’t get over-exercised and sore from playing too hard with other dogs.

Currently Sophie is on generic Rimadyl once a day and GPMR realizes that this can be expensive so we are willing to cover the cost of this medication for the rest of Sophie’s life. All we want is for her to have the loving forever home she so deserves! Please consider this wonderful girl for your home today!

Sophie is being fostered in Tulsa, OK.

Comments / Information about this animal:Sweetie is a 2-3 year old brindle girl who was rescued from a shelter in Arkansas. Her owner surrendered her to the shelter with 2 puppies because she had too many dogs and couldn’t afford to feed them. The puppies have found homes and now Sweetie is ready for a home of her own! Sweetie’s name fits her perfectly, she loves people. She enjoys her family time and lounging on the couch. Sweetie would do well in a home with another male dog for her to play with.
Comments / Information about this animal:Taylor is a 9 month old Mastiff mix. She was left outside by her former owner all of the time, and one day she and the other dog got out of the yard and ended up at the local shelter. Her owner came to pick them up, but took the other dog and left Taylor behind and said he did not want her back! We can’t imagine why, Taylor is a sweet and friendly girl who seems to get along with everyone she meets. She is good with other dogs but we don’t know about cats. She will need to learn how to walk on a leash as it’s pretty clear she never had a leash on before we got her! Taylor has a very unique and gorgeous coat, we think she might be a Mastiff/Boxer mix.
Comments / Information about this animal:My name is Mel and I am a BIG Beautiful Mastiff. At 150 lbs my foster Mom calls me her “gentle giant.’ I came from Texas from a nice family that had to give me up because of a personal crisis and went to live with their friend until GPMR took me in. My foster Mom picked me up and I liked the ride home and am enjoying my foster home. I have a new best friend Rylee who is a Jack Russell. Rylee and I get along well and I even have made friends with the older dogs Randee and Amber. I’ve met some kitties too but I don’t really know what they are so I just ignore them.

I enjoy long walks and behave well on a leash. I try to remember not to pull Mom. I will come when called, am crate trained, and potty trained. Mom has young grandchildren who are great. I’m too big for them to play with, but I don’t push or knock them down. I really think older kids would be great fun as I like to play. However, I do have to admit, my favorite thing to do is nap. Okay. I know. Life is too short to sleep away. But, Hey, sometimes you just need to “catch 5”.

I am about 4 1/2 years old. I was recently treated for an ear infection and heartworms but I am doing well. When I was younger, I had severe kidney stones, so I had to have a special surgery to allow me to pass them. You would never know it though as I am completely housebroken!

I was recently diagnosed with IBD, Irritable Bowel Disease. My vet thinks this can be controlled with diet, with medicaitons to treat flare ups as needed. However I am such a good boy and even if I have a flare up, I never potty in the house!

If you will adopt me I promise to be you BFF (best friend forever).

Mel

XXXOOO Slurp! Nudge! Lean! Hug! Nap!

Mel is being fostered in the Oklahoma City/Moore area.

Comments / Information about this animal:Valentine’s Day! That is the day GPMR rescued me. My foster mom named me Juliet to memorialize the day I was saved from a Texas shelter.
I am a Mastiff Mix Girl. I wish I could tell you all what the mix part is but I have overheard a lot of folks saying American Mastiff, which is a mix of English Mastiff & Anatolian Shepherd. Either way I am just adorable!
I love my foster home. I have a big English Mastiff sister to play with and when she gets tired of me I can go play with the 2 little girls who live there too. I am a puppy and I get along with everyone & everything. I am learning basics and learning boundries although I don’t understand why I need them - can’t a pup just do whatever she pleases? But - I have been told I am very smart and I focus very well.
I do try very hard to be the boss of everyone even though I am the smallest.
But just like Valentines Day I have a big heart.
So even though Valentines Day is over I ask “Will you be my Valentine?”

Juliet is being fostered in Weatherford, TX.

Since then, he said he has used the technique to treat dozens of animals, specifically cats and dogs, with a variety of ailments like osteoarthritis, ligament injuries and degenerative conditions.
In 2002, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the therapy in humans, and in 2009 Bailey was asked to spearhead a study on dogs and cats.
“It’s a very exciting technology,” he said.
Bailey noted that the animals don’t feel anything from the laser.
“All they know is they’re being loved on for a few minutes. The pain from the condition being treated subsides immediately,” he said.
Bailey will typically see a patient a few times, and the treatment will last anywhere from one minute to six to eight minutes, depending on the ailment. Each session with laser therapy costs $35.
There are no adverse side effects, Bailey said, but noted that the eyes can be damaged if the laser is shown directly into the eye.
