T he Bagelarium & STG Gelateria is one of the newest ventures of
Andolini’s Worldwide. Serving up bagel-based sandwiches and coffee for breakfast and lunch, the storefront then focuses on gelato in the afternoon and evening.
Our family of five (two adults, two kids, and one pup) recently visited the Cherry Street location in Tulsa to see what it is all about.
The hand-rolled bagels, which are the base for breakfast and lunch sandwiches, are leavened from a 100-year-old sourdough starter from Switzerland, the eatery explains. Made fresh in-house each day, bagels include plain, sesame seed, “everything,” flaked salt, and cinnamon raisin, with a variety of smears and spreads available as add-ons ($1.50+).
Most of the breakfast sandwiches are a variation of egg and cheese with bacon, ham, or sausage, starting at $5.50. Customers with more refined palettes might prefer the classic Nova lox with sliced salmon, capers, tomato, and scallion cream cheese ($8.50).
At lunch, bagel sandwich offerings include egg, tuna, or chicken salad, hot pastrami, turkey and avocado club, and the pepperoni pizza bagel ($6.50).
The Bagelarium serves Tulsa-staple Topeca coffee, making the breakfast experience complete.
Our crew wasn’t too adventurous for our early breakfast and stuck with our favorite staples: the “everything” bagel with plain smear, a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel, and coffee — lots of coffee.
The Cherry Street location features an expansive pet-friendly patio with seating lining the perimeter. That left plenty of room for our wiggly kids to spread out and play while the senior dog and two adults sat
on the bench with their coffees, still waking up. Although the patio isn’t covered, there is plenty of shade from nearby buildings.
Of course, in the name of due diligence, we later made an afternoon visit to sample the gelato. Don’t call it ice cream, though! Like the bagels, the Italian gelato is made in-house in microbatches every day.
Gelato servings start at $4.50 for a small serving and also can be purchased by the pint ($9.50). Coffee lovers will want to make sure to try the affogato (gelato with espresso, $5). Cannolis and other pastries are also available.
For gelato, our group was ladies only. The sun had come out, and it was significantly warmer than on our morning visit. The staff offered our pooch, Penny Lane, her own bowl of water in a large gelato cup. My daughter and I tried the chocolate cake and panna cotta (crème brûlée and salted caramel) gelatos. However, we were tempted by several other flavors. Don’t worry, STG offers samples of all the flavors before you have to make a final decision.
Our gelatos were smooth and flavorful, the perfect indulgent treat at the end of our day.
